Dr. W. John Matthews, D.M.D.
Dr. Matthews will be the first to admit that one of his favorite hobbies is his work. He has chosen to do what he greatly enjoys and has surrounded himself with people he thinks of as friends and family.       

Dr. Matthews was born and raised in the river and steel country of Western Pennsylvania, where he graduated from the University Of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1970.  Before coming to Colorado Springs in 1973 he fulfilled a military obligation with a tour in Vietnam and a General Practice Residency at Beaumont Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.  

Upon establishing a practice in Colorado Springs in 1973, Dr. Matthews became active in a number of service and professional groups, being honored for service and achievement.  Currently he is a member of Crown Council, American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, El Paso County Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry and Doctors of Oral Conscious Sedation.  

Dr. Matthews has studied and practiced using the principles learned from the country’s foremost dental mentors.  Having completed continuums on Implant Restoration, Endodontics, Seattle Institute of Advanced Dental Education, and the Center of Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg Florida.  The desire to constantly learn, remain innovative and pertinent explain why he has aggressively pursued further educational opportunities.

Dr. Matthews and wife Sandy have been happily married for 41 years, and have a daughter Heather, and twin sons Brock and Derek.  All are married and have great life partners.  Dr. Matthews is also the proud grandpa to his grandson Chase & granddaughter Kylie. Needless to say, he is kept very busy with family activities and gatherings.  He also enjoys traveling, mountain biking, climbing 14ers, martial arts, and photograph.
